In many places around the world, businesses are paying people low wages to sit down, search the web and like certain posts. In many places, one person can work with up to 200 phones. Basically, a click farm is used to get fake likes with fake social media accounts. It is very hard to detect whether or not the likes are coming from real or fake accounts. Despite it being illegal, it unfortunately still exists.

 

How are click farms used? 

As mentioned before, click farms are used to boost popularity by augmenting artifical likes on a post. People who wish to have more likes or have their ads clicked more frequently can contact click farms to provide more than ten thousands likes on their posts. At click farms, phones are often spread out in rows so that it is easy to switch from phone to phone. They spend the entire day clicking and liking different posts. With hundreds of people clicking all day on hundreds of phones, likes increase at an extremely fast rate.
